Not Quite Self Publishing offers a help to self publish service from your manuscript all the way to the Amazon book store. Though 'help to self publish' may sound oxymoronic, there is no magic 'Publish' button (unfortunately), and perhaps book sizes, formatting, margin widths, e-book compatability, cover design, spine thickness, account set-up, keywords, categories and pricing aren't exactly your thing. Or maybe, this whole self publishing thing just seems downright bemusing and confusing. So for the time-conscious and the technophobes out there - and by 'technophobes', I mean anyone over the age of 35! - I offer a comprehensive and sedulous publishing service to get your book on Amazon, get you earning royalties and get you gifting author copies to your friends and family.
How It Works
Chapter 1
Send Your Manuscript
Whatever you are working in and in whichever format, just get it as finished as you possibly can, then all you need to do is send it over by email and I'll do the rest!
(And by the way, if you'd like some basic editing or proof reading, I'd be happy to help, or I can refer you to an expert.)
Chapter 3
Making Your Cover
You may have your own ideas for your cover, or an image that you'd like to use, or just leave the design to me and see what you think. Both e-book and paperback covers are designed with Amazon templates, to best display and print your book.
Chapter 5
Publishing Your Book
Add a blurb, some keywords, categories, decide on your price and that's it, we publish your book. Amazon will give it a once over, then it will be live, ready to buy!

Formatting Your Manuscript
I will format your book optimally for both e-book and paperback (and even hardback). As an e-book, your book will be able to be viewed on Kindles & Kobos, phones, laptops, iPads & touchpads and just about anything with a screen. As a paperback, it will be ready to go to the printers, with suitable margins and spine widths, font sizes, spacing and blank leafs.
(And if you don't know your preface from your prologue - I didn't either! - and you want to add these and similar front matter, i.e. contents, foreword or even an epigraph (that's the bit with the proverbial quote at the start), then we can.)
Chapter 4
Setting Up Your Account
You'll get your own Amazon self publishing account, so in the future, you can alter prices, change descriptions or even make edits to your book. Plus you stay in charge of your account for as long as you have it, with a username and password.

Why Self Publishing?
SAVE MONEY
The average cost of publishing can be thousands, and that's before author copies, re-edits and re-runs. Not Quite Self Publishing (as you'll see below) is offering publishing for a mere fraction of that. What's more, there's little difference between where you'll end up - publishers also publish to Amazon and are doing pretty much the same thing as I do, they're just charging for the admin, and their reputation.
KEEP ALL ROYALTIES
You keep all of what you make from your book. There is no 10%, 20%, or even 50%, going to someone else in perpetuity, you get 100% from day one. A lot of publishers will implement a threshhold too before you get a payout, i.e. 'you need to make this much before we pay you', so you could be waiting a long time for that first bank transfer. With self publishing, the first penny you make, you get!
NO CONTRACT & RETAIN THE RIGHTS TO YOUR BOOK
It would surprise you to hear the number of published writers I have spoken to who aren't sure if they even still own the rights to their book any more. If you've gone for a publisher, the likelyhood is, you don't, and it could be years before you can get it back. This way, you never lose the rights to your own book and can do whatever you like with it in the future.
RE-EDITS & CHANGES
Checking your book and see something you don't like, something you missed... just ask me to change it. I offer one round of changes before the e-book goes live and another round of changes after you order an author copy. Try asking a publisher to change something... go on... try it...
KEEP FULL CONTROL OF YOUR ACCOUNT... AND YOUR BOOK
Once your book is published, that's it - it's your account and you can do what you like with it from there. Come back to me if you'd like some help but otherwise, it's in your hands now!
NO RELENTLESS AFTER SALES
And that goes for after sales too. Unlike many publishers, I'm not going to call or email you after, selling promotional packages or a fresh re-publish - I've already done my part, so I won't ask you for anything else.
A PERSONAL SERVICE
You'll start with me, throughout the process you'll be working with me and you'll end up publishing with me. You'll never call up and have to talk to a different agent or email and someone else answers. It's a personal service and I'll know exactly what and where your project is. What's more, everything is flexible and everything is bespoke, there's no strict rules and no set pathway.
